i gonna get this duck soon. i like to know what they eat when their young. something not so expensive. are they hard to take care of
:iconahorselv:
Well first you'll need to buy more than one, so the duck isn't lonely. Do you have enough room for some ducks? With a pond, etc? When they're young they eat stuff that you can buy at your local feed mill. Don't get the medicated feed though, ducks eat tons of food and they will over dose on the medicine in the medicated kind. They aren't hard to take care of once they're outside. You just need to make sure they have bowls of food and water filled at all times, and an area to get away from predators.

okay. yeah i was going to buy one white one and a khaki campbell duck. i don't want my ducks to be lonely. it's like taking care of a dog right. are they very loyal to you when their older. like if i were to bring them to a large pond with other geese will they come when i call them. i know the white duck can't fly but other ones that can will they leave and never come back? and one more the white duck is good for winter if its with another duck right
:iconahorselv:
It's kind of like a dog. But mine aren't very cuddly. lol. Unless you have trained them really well I doubt they'll come when you call, unless it's feeding time. People say that the birds that can fly will leave in the winter and come back, but our mallards haven't left. The ducks should be good for winter as long as there is always water[kept unfrozen] and food around, plus a dry shelter they can get to. [our ducks sometimes will come up to our hay storage barn and rest in there. ]

so they can be outside when it is 16 degrees out right
:iconahorselv:
Technically, yes. But access to a dry shelter is a must.
